Information about the eco friendly fabrics used in our bags

COTTON CANVAS

Canvas is a heavy duty plain woven fabric that has traditionally been used for production of sails, tents and other functions where sturdiness is required. Cotton canvas is graded by weight and in this application produces extremely durable and attractive bag styles.

COTTON

Cotton is a soft fibre that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant. It is spun into yam or thread and used to make a breathable textile. Cotton fibre consists of nearly pure cellulose, a natural polymer. Production is very efficient - only ten percent or less of the weight is lost during processing.

JUTE

Jute is a natural fibre made of the plant materials, cellulose and lignin, making it one of the strongest natural fibres available. Jute fibre is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. To add an element of water resistance, some bags are laminated with LD.P.E.

JUCO

Juco is an interwoven blend of jute and cotton to produce a smoother finish.

POLYPROPYLENE

Non-woven polypropylene (NWPP) is manufactured from polypropylene gas, a by product of oil refining. These bags are lightweight yet sturdy, designed to be reused repeatedly over many years. At the end of their useful lives, they can be recycled. In their most common usages (such as the bags being sold in many supermarkets), polypropylene bags can help to reduce the consumption and environmental impact of single use bags and may encourage customers to be more 'waste-wise' in their daily lives.

P.E.T.

P.E.T. is made from recycled plastic bottles combined with varying percentages of polyester to make the material firmer or more flexible. alongside each product you will see a recycling symbol containing the percentage of P.E.T. which is used in each range.
